THA CNN OF THE HOOD

“Tha CNN Of The Hood” is a 27 page augmented reality book that details the abridged musical progression of hip hop from the 70s - late 90s.
The book showcases numerous seminal hip hop artists and details how they personally evolved hip hop musically and lyrically.
The Cook Up
Design-wise, I wanted to visually display a hip hop aesthetic and explore my collage abilities to the fullest (both hand-done and digital).
I also wanted each page to carry a different aesthetic for each artist while simultaneously displaying design unity. This was accomplished through the various nods of collaging type with image, using the same color palette throughout all designs, and making sure each page carried a consistent energy.
Making history move
The AR in this project was used as a means to audibly articulate both the artist's contributions to the genre and visually introduce the reader to the musical style of each era.
